What a salon assistant or apprentice role is

When a salon posts an assistant or apprentice opening, it usually means a learning role for a student or newly licensed pro: shampooing, mixing color, assisting stylists, and building speed. You may only provide paid services your license allows. Ask the salon exactly what the role includes.

Why take one

You learn how a busy salon runs and get introduced to clients. Many salons move strong assistants onto the floor once they are licensed and ready.
